Welcome to February KAPPA III

February 1

Dear Families,

Welcome to February! As we begin a new month, we are proud to celebrate Black History Month while continuing to strengthen our commitment to Respect for All. Throughout February, students will engage in learning experiences that honor Black history, culture, and contributions, while reflecting on the importance of respect, fairness, inclusion, empathy, and belonging for every member of our school community.

This work comes to life during Respect for All Week, when students are encouraged to recognize and celebrate differences, stand up for one another, and help build a school culture rooted in dignity and care. These values are deeply connected to the lessons of Black history, past and present.

On Monday, February 2, students will receive their report cards. Report cards provide a snapshot of academic progress so far this school year, including grades, teacher feedback, and information related to effort and attendance. Some families may also receive a Promotion in Doubt letter. This letter is an early notification to ensure families are informed and supported, and to allow time for collaboration and growth before the end of the school year. Receiving this letter does not represent a final decision.

Please take time to review the report card with your child, celebrate progress, and discuss next steps. Families are encouraged to reach out to teachers or guidance counselors with any questions or if additional support is needed.

Please note a few important dates and highlights for this month.
Respect for All Week: February 9 to February 13
Winter Recess: February 16 to February 30
100th Day of School: February 26

For more details on upcoming events, activities, and important reminders, please be sure to review our weekly Chronicle and February calendar.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to a meaningful and engaging month ahead for our students.

With Love and Leadership,
Professor Bennett

Black History Month & Respect For All Spotlight

Creative Presentation: Black History Month | Respect for All

It’s Black History Month and students are taking the mic. This is your chance to learn about a notable African American you have never learned about before and share their story with your classmates and the school community.Students may choose one way to present their learning: PowerPoint, Poem, or Skit. Be creative, be confident, and make sure your presentation connects to respect, fairness, inclusion, or kindness. Before getting started, students should review the two PDFs posted in the Social Studies Google Classroom. They explain the presentation options, give helpful tips and sentence starters, and show exactly how points will be earned. Students who want to present during Town Hall must complete the Town Hall Google Form and email any slides to Professor Bennett. Students who want to present during Social Studies class must complete the Social Studies Google Form and let their teacher know when they are ready to present. This is your moment to bring the facts, bring the creativity, and bring the energy. Whether you use slides, poetry, or a short skit with classmates, make it meaningful and school appropriate. Students who participate may earn extra Dojo points.

Questions can be directed to your Social Studies teacher. Let’s get ready to shine.
